Dave Thompson
Dave Thompson is a first-generation auctioneer whose career is defined by service, commitment, and connection. A graduate of the University of Minnesota at Mankato with a B.S. degree, Dave also attended Auction School in Mankato, laying the foundation for a profession rooted in people-focused service. His background in customer service honed his ability to connect authentically with others. This skill translates seamlessly into the world of nonprofit fundraising.
Dave’s journey into benefit auctions began when Kurt and Connie Johnson introduced him to their company’s philosophy and vision at a Minnesota State Auctioneers Association (MSAA) Conference. Inspired, he quickly joined their mission, stepping on stage within a week to support a nonprofit, an experience that ignited a passion he has pursued ever since.
Throughout his career, Dave has earned numerous accolades, including being named the 2017 Minnesota Champion Auctioneer. He has served as a Past President of the MSAA and holds the prestigious CAI (Certified Auctioneers Institute) and BAS (Benefit Auction Specialist) designations. In addition, he is a licensed Real Estate Broker and holds an FFL, bringing versatility and expertise to every auction he leads.
A proud U.S. Veteran, Dave served in the United States Army and Army National Guard, both at home and overseas. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of civic awareness, discipline, and dedication to service—qualities that continue to guide his work as an auctioneer and his commitment to helping nonprofits achieve their goals.
Dave is actively involved in his community through organizations such as the Shriners, Chamber of Commerce, and veterans groups. He brings energy, integrity, and heart to every endeavor. Outside of work, Dave enjoys visiting wineries and breweries, traveling, cherishing time with his two grown children, and showing off his spirited side with karaoke nights.
